This week, we sadly didn’t pre-sell any books. It’s Saturday and I am once again at my desk working. No one said this was going to be easy.

When my huba-friend told me to keep my expectations low, I tried to tamper my own excitement but I couldn’t help but think about how great it would be for people to have my book. I had these big dreams of making the law fun and showing people that we lawyers can be creative too and that somehow it would all happen overnight. But that’s just not how life works (or at the very least only very very few people have that kind of luck).

Once in awhile I get a flash or glimpse of success, but most days it is just the daily task of moving very slowly forward on your project. I look at the Oatmeal and XKCD and we see how successful they are now but really what we don’t see is the amount of years and years each of them has dedicated to just taking one step forward, one day at a time.

I hope in a couple of years I’ll have been able to achieve some success but for now it is one day at a time, one foot in front of the other, step by step by step.
