My Proof!

This picture is terrible but my proof came yesterday! This shit is about to get real! I am very very happy with how it looks printed out. I think we have made a quality product. Looking forward to getting the first bunch, officially opening the book store and sending some books out!

Busy Busy Bee

Woke up today to several messages. This is really turning into an all consuming gig and I am loving it! Complaints about shipping prices ensue. We are still trying to figure out the best way to do it. I think Amazon has spoiled everyone into thinking that shipping should be free and I don’t blame people. I am myself that person who refuses to pay for shipping but alas I don’t know how else to do this when the shipping just costs that much. I can’t lose money over shipping, that makes no sense. Still trying to puzzle over how to solve this problem. In the meantime my solution is always this: draw a comic! That’s what I shall be working on today (not what I had planned but it’s all a learning process). (more…)

Not Going Back!

This morning was spent on the phone. A very rare but good thing for me. It has disrupted my day a bit and so instead of drawing a comic I thought I would jot some thoughts here. Hopefully afterwards I can get back to drawing.

My first phone call was with a classmate from law school. He recently quit his big-law job and is now preparing to go traveling for a year. Why does that sound familiar?

Wise words from Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the most bad-ass lawyer in town. Thanks RBG for being such an inspiration to me and for telling me it’s ok to be who I am, as long as I am doing the best I can. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

The Lonely Act of Writing

Being a writer is a lonely affair. Even in today’s world, with so much social media and communication, the act of writing is fundamentally one of solitude and quiet.

When I used to work at the firm, it was hard to get alone time. Even though I had my own office, closing my door was frowned upon. It was strange to me that our profession – one which I like to romanticize as full of silent contemplation – was actually so loud.
